The following article shares the results of an investigation that studied the Esquelazo of October 1967, in Esquel, Chubut, Argentina. This popular uprsing place within the framework of the Onganía dictatorship and the emergence of the new left, being a first precedent before the Cordobazo of 1969. The Esquelazo allows us to know the dynamics of the time that were the prelude to a series of popular revolts which, known under the suffix “azo”, make it possible to identify the role of subaltern groups. This work recovers documentary sources, contributions from memory studies, and the gender perspective.
